Getting over it, and getting started . . . again

Okay, here’s the reason why this blog is so old, yet, doesn’t have any posts. . . I deleted them. Not on purpose, of course. I thought I was getting rid of the useless, drafted posts, but I erased my published posts, their pictures, writing – everything – instead. Yeah. Needless to say, I was pretty mad. Apparently, it takes me a couple months to get over this kind of thing. But I have. So, it’s time to get to work! Here are the pictures that were lost . . . and now are found. Prodigal pictures, I guess.

My Dad’s Birthday Cake
 My Dad’s favorite kind of cake is German chocolate. So for his birthday, I made a double layer German chocolate cake with (I forget what it’s called) German chocolate frosting to fill and coat it. Now, the story behind this cake is that, while I was frosting, I by mistake pulled up. (That’s bad.) I had cake crumbs, frosting, and all this nastiness mixed in. I even pulled a chunk of the cake off the side. (You can see the kind of cave in hear the “H” in “Happy”.) I used the cream cheese frosting as an illusion to take your eyes away from my “whoopsie” in this cake.

Chocolate Bon-Bons
“Bon-bon” in French literally translates into “Good-good”. And these are “good-good”! Not to mention super easy. Even I can’t mess this recipe up. (That’s saying something.) All you do is crush a package of Oreo cookies into dust (be sure to scrape out the creme first), blend it with a package of creme cheese until it’s black-brown greasy stuff with no white, form the black-brown stuff into balls, dip the balls in chocolate, and voila! (I sprinkled Oreo dust on mine because it looks purty.) (Recipe from Costco’s cookbook)
Strawberry Shortcake
     For my writing class, I was told to make a “how-to” book. Naturally, I did it on food. The strawberry shortcake really is easy to make . . . it’s just that when I was doing it for the class, things went wrong. It started with the cake. We didn’t have any of those little angel food cakes you can buy at the store, so I had to bake one. Then, I found we didn’t have any fresh strawberries. But, we had frozen ones.
In the end, my little circle cake was spreading crumbs EVERYWHERE, the strawberries were slimy, and my cool chocolate design had morphed into a choco-puddle. It may have tasted nasty, but it looks good in the picture. (From my head)
Harvest Festival Cookies
I made these holiday cookies for a e-zine one of my friends and I attempted. The magazine pathetically went up in flames, but these sugar cookies were the bomb! (Made too long ago to remember where recipe came from.)
Choco Shake
Every girl gets a craving for chocolate. That’s how this scrump-dilly-umptious drink came about. All this has in it is ice cream, milk, and a whole lot of chocolate syrup. For presentation, I decorated the cup with syrup, and topped it with whipped cream, Oreo crumbs, and an Oreo. It was DA BOMB. (Not to toot my own horn.) (From my head)

Lemon Cookies

These lemon cookies were sort of a payment to a friend of mine. I had never made them before, so it was a risk. But it was worth it. Mmm-mmm, delish! These are actually made from a Betty Crocker lemon cake mix, believe it or not, and  are sprinkled with powder sugar for that elegant look. (From 101+ Hurry Up Cookie Recipes)
